OVERVIEW: Green Cabomba is a fast growing perennial stem plant that can be a nusance because of its speedy growth. It requires regular pruning or less than ideal conditions to keep it from taking over the tank.
HABITAT: Lakes, rivers, streams and ponds with slow flowing and even stagnant waters.
NATIVE RANGE: North and South America.
MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 32+ inch (80cm+).
LIGHTING: Bright.
WATER: 70-76 F (21-24 C); pH Acid to alkaline; Hardness: soft to hard.
FEEDING: Microneutrients enhance form and colour; CO2 not required.
SPECIAL CARE: No special care required.
PROPAGATION: Cuttings will root when planted in the substrate. Stem fragments will produce new plants.
NOTES: This is a wonderfule background plant for starting new aquariums, where the fast growth is an ideal asset. Green Cabomba's bright colour and delicate looking feathery leaves offer excellent contrast for other plants in the aquascape. It is a true aquatic plant that does not grow emersed, though the flowers will poke above the water. Herbivorous fishes are quite fond of Cabomba leaves; goldfish will strip the leaves faster than they can grow back.
