OVERVIEW: The ruffled sword is one of the nicest of the sword plants. Its size and fancy ruffled leaves makes it a welcome addition in almost every tank. In the larger tanks, it can be used as a specimen plant, however in medium tanks, it is fine at the sides or back.
HABITAT: Emersed or submersed marshy areas.
NATIVE RANGE: Brazil.
MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 24 inch (60 cm).
LIGHTING: Medium to bright.
WATER: 75-78 F (17-25 C); pH: mildly acidic to moderately alkaline; Hardness: soft to moderately hard.
FEEDING: Use a fertile substrate and occasional addition of micro and macro nutrients. If the leaves turn yellow - add Iron.
SPECIAL CARE: add CO2.
PROPAGATION: adventitious plantlets
NOTES: This beautiful plant tolerates all types of water. It is versatile and easy to keep. Ensure you have a deep substrate as the rootstock is quite impressive.
