OVERVIEW: This grassy herb grows flowering stems without true leaves. The flowers, which grow emersed, are tiny white blossoms that show from June to October.
HABITAT: Moist Shoreline areas.
NATIVE RANGE: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, North Africa, Australia.
MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 8 inch (20 cm). LIGHTING: Bright.
WATER: 64-82 F (18-28 C); pH Neutral to slightly acidic; Hardness: moderate soft or hard. SPECIAL CARE: Keep the water flow fairly slow, but keep debris out of the lawn. Corydoras catfish will help keep the rushes clear of waste matter that could smother the plant. Be careful of mosses and algae that are apt to become entangled with the dwarf hairgrass and could smother it.
PROPAGATION: Runners. Dense plantings can be separated and replanted, which will result in a renewed growth spurt.
NOTES: Dwarf hairgrass is highly thought of by those admirers of Mr Takashi Amano's style of aquascaping.
