OVERVIEW: Lobelia is one of the mainstays of the Dutch Aquarium hobby, where the small leaved plants are used as streets. The same species produces many shades of colour and form, especially when grown out of the water.
HABITAT: Marshes and along the banks of rivers and lakes.
NATIVE RANGE: Central and Eastern North America, Canada and Mexico.
MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 12 inch (30 cm).
LIGHTING: Medium to bright.
WATER: 71-78 F (22-26 C); pH: mildly acidic to mildly alkaline; Hardness: soft to hard.
FEEDING: Use a fertile substrate for thicker stems, greener leaves and an overall stockier plant. CO2 not required.SPECIAL CARE: Lobelia grows slowly and makes no special demands.
PROPAGATION: Cuttings and side shoots. Can be grown from Seed.
NOTES: With brighter light, stronger plants develop. Topping and replanting the shoots will result in bushy growth.
