OVERVIEW: The Java Fern is the star performer in the aquarium; people who cannot grow any other plant CAN grow this one.
HABITAT: Emersed along banks of rivers and streams.
NATIVE RANGE: Tropical Asia.
MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 12 inch (30 cm)
LIGHTING: Low to bright light with medium preferred.
WATER: 75-82 F (24-28 C); pH: Slightly acidic to Neutral; Hardness: soft to moderately hard.
FEEDING: None required.
SPECIAL CARE: Preferred substrates are rocks, driftwood, bark - virtually any rough surface to which the rootlets can attach, DO NOT BURY THE RHIZOME as it will rot.PROPAGATION: The rhizomes can be divided. Adventitious plantlets on roots and leaves.
NOTES: Browned off leaves are experiencing sexual reproduction from spores - tiny plants grow on these dead looking leaves.
