OVERVIEW: This charming aquatic fern is a dainty addition to the surface of the aquarium. The stem is floating, filamentous and branched. Sets of 3 leaves form on a stem: 2 small green hairy ones above water and one that serves as the root structure below the water. These small units reproduce rapidly.
HABITAT: Standing water: Lakes, ponds, pools ditches.
NATIVE RANGE: Worldwide.
MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 0.5 inch (1.25 cm).
LIGHTING: Bright.
WATER: 68-82 F (20-28 C):
pH Slightly acidic to neutral; Hardness: Slightly soft to Slightly Hard.
FEEDING: This plant has no requirements.
SPECIAL CARE: Succesptible to chlorosis in there is insufficient Iron.
PROPAGATION: Spores and vegetively.
NOTES: Watermoss kills light for the plants beneath it, but it also prevents Algae from developing by blocking the light and removing all the nutrients. This is an ideal candidate for the breeding tank.
