    The species will be Green wendtii or willisii (willisii pictured)
    Cryptocoryne species will sometimes die back very quickly on addition to a new aquarium, this is well documented as "crypto melt", it is a shock response to new conditions. They will usually grow back from the root point adapted to the new conditions they find themselves in.
